Common Questions
What is mobile wound care?
Mobile wound care is a specialized healthcare service where certified wound care clinicians travel to patients in their homes, nursing facilities, or assisted living communities to provide professional wound assessment, treatment, and management. Instead of going to a hospital or clinic, expert wound care comes to you. This approach improves convenience, reduces stress on patients and caregivers, and allows people to heal in their familiar home environment with support from family and friends.

How quickly can you see a new patient?
We typically schedule initial assessments within 24-48 hours of receiving a referral. For urgent cases, we often can accommodate same-day or next-day visits. When you call or submit a referral, let us know if your situation is urgent and we'll do our best to prioritize scheduling.
Do you visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities?
Absolutely. We regularly serve patients in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), assisted living communities (ALFs), group homes, and memory care units throughout the St. Louis area. We work collaboratively with facility nursing staff and management to provide expert wound care while respecting the facility's operations and policies. Facilities can establish regular visiting schedules that work for their needs.
What happens during the first visit?
During your initial assessment, our specialist will: evaluate your wound in detail, ask about your medical history and current medications, assess factors affecting wound healing (circulation, nutrition, mobility, sensation), photograph the wound for documentation and progress tracking, develop a personalized treatment plan, explain the treatment approach and answer your questions, and schedule follow-up visits. The first visit typically lasts 45-60 minutes. We'll discuss expectations for healing, frequency of follow-up care, and how to prepare for visits.
How do I refer a patient?
Patients and healthcare providers can refer in several ways: Call us at (314) 804-8364 during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM), submit an online referral form, or fax a referral to our office. Provide basic patient information, wound details, relevant medical history, and insurance information. We'll contact you within 24-48 hours to confirm and schedule the initial assessment.
Do you communicate with my primary care doctor?
Yes, communication with your healthcare team is essential to excellent care. After your initial assessment and throughout your treatment, we provide detailed written reports to your primary care physician and any specialists involved in your care. We notify your doctor of any significant changes in wound status, complications, or deviations from expected healing. We welcome input from your physician and coordinate treatment recommendations to ensure everyone is working toward the same goals.
What should I have ready for the first visit?
Please have the following ready for your first visit: a list of current medications, a list of any allergies, recent lab results if available, information about your primary care physician and any specialists, your insurance card, and any recent medical records related to your wound or condition. If possible, have a private, clean space for the assessment. Please also have any current wound care supplies or dressings on hand so we can see what you're currently using.
